![]() I grit my teeth and ignored them all and remained focused on the task at hand. My rez complained bitterly, half my city was in flames, and happiness sunk to 59%. I ruthlessly moved all RZ to an empty area sans streets, utilities, and services while I worked on one section at a time. It took about 10 days to implement my design. Plus, I've never had to upgrade ANY of my roads, all are still the same original two lanes through out the entire city. It's nearly a year later, my city is now level #46 with 1.5 million pop, and I am still using the same basic layout I designed for my city back then. So, as I expanded my city, I just referred to these map plots to place my services as acquired. Plus, I plotted out the optimal placement of every single service building for all three tiers, to provide max coverage of RZ, for the entire city map. And it had to be compact, with no wasted open spaces, except for the occasional 1x1 spot behind a 1x1 service building. It had to accommodate the largest building at any given location. Primary was the design had to be flexible and adaptable to future city growth. So before I even created a layout, I made a list of "must haves", and incorporated them into the design. I prize efficiency I don't like doing things more than once, and I especially detest problem solving the same thing over and over again. ![]() I'm an old skool graphic artist, so I sat down with grid paper and pen and created various road layout designs til I made something I liked, and used that. When I visited other cities, if I saw layouts I liked, I took screenshots and created albums for future reference and ideas. I was around level 26 when I decided to completely redesign my city, Sept last year, before the Paris update.
